This week saw members of Skegness and District competing in Local, National & International races.
Wednesday night saw the last race of the season in the Click Em Inn 5 mile series. Paul Jackson was first back for the club, with an 8th place finish, completing this undulating course in the Lincolnshire Wolds in a time of 29.19. Steven Dowse was pleased with his time of 29.56 & Angela Thompson completed our clubs trio in a time of 34.21, and was 2nd lady overall.
James Willis travelled to Romania to compete in a multi stage Ultra Marathon. Ultra Race Romania is a multi stage self supported foot race, the only one of its kind in Romania. The competitors must cover 250km (155 miles) in 6 stages carrying everything they need to survive for the week. James finished in an amazing 10th place. All starters finished the race, a fantastic achievement for all involved.
Amy Mitchell & Kirsty Boulton competed in the Run Sandringham 24 event over the weekend, making up a team of four. The team ran 5 mile laps around the estate starting at 12pm on Saturday. The team achieved 28 laps altogether, a great result for a 24hr race.
Finally Dave and Roenel Kenyon headed north to County Durham, to take part in the Lambton Castle Trail events. Both runs started and finished at the Castle and took in some fabulous scenery around the Estate.
Dave completed the 10 mile race in 1.30.00, and Roenel the 5 mile race in 1.14.00.
Its important to remember, that as a club, we are more than just the races we run.
This week saw mini triumphs for members coming back from injury, a plethora of parkrun results across the country, trail runs in the summer sunshine with friends, and Marathon training social runs in the hills.
Skegness and District Running Club continues to be a fully inclusive club, offering dedicated training to runners of all abilities. We have training nights throughout the week in Skegness, Boston, Spilsby & Horncastle. See our Website for further details.
